Who should consider taking part in the raffle?
University of Maine students, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends and neighbors residing in the United States. Students entering the raffle on their own behalf must be at least 18 years of age. Alumni Association employees and board members, as well as UCU employees and their immediate family members, are not eligible to participate.
Who is eligible to win the prize?
All students — undergraduate and graduate, in-state and out-of-state — are eligible to receive the prize.
What’s the prize?
A payment of at least $9,270, to be paid on the prize beneficiary’s behalf to the University of Maine. Note: The precise dollar value will be equal to the 2021-22 in-state tuition rate for 30 undergraduate credit hours as determined by the Board of Trustees in May 2021. That amount is considered “a year of free tuition” for the purposes of this raffle. The rate for the current academic year is $9,270.
What does it cost to enter?
While the Tuition Raffle is a fundraiser for the Alumni Association, NO PURCHASE IS REQUIRED TO ENTER. Participants have the option of making a voluntary online donation to support the Alumni Association’s Student Alumni Ambassador program and other related initiatives.
How many times may I enter the raffle?
Participants may submit up to 10 entries per day. Entries must be submitted separately each time. Each single raffle entry will have a unique confirmation number. Additional entries beyond the 10 entry maximum per individual will be cleared from the system.
Can I still enter the raffle if I won’t be a UMaine student in 2021-22?
You may direct the prize to benefit someone else, such as a child, relative, or friend enrolled in UMaine for the 2021-22 academic year. Or you may also choose to have the university apply the prize to a student in significant need of financial aid by entering “Student in Need” in the “Designate a Student” section during checkout.
What if I (or the student I want to benefit from the prize) will receive other forms of tuition assistance? Can the prize be applied to room and board or books?
Yes, so long as the payment can be directed to the prize beneficiary’s account with the University of Maine’s business office. Payment is made to the University of Maine and is not refundable to the prize winner or beneficiary.
When is the deadline for entering?
The deadline for entering is May 3, 2021 at 11:59 PM (EDT). The winning entry number will be randomly selected on May 6, 2021 at 12 noon (EDT). The raffle winner will be notified immediately afterward. The raffle winner’s name will be announced publicly on May 11, 2021.
I’ve entered the Tuition Raffle but I haven’t received a confirmation email. Do you have my entry?
We have received your information and are processing your entry. You will not need your confirmation email as proof of entry. If you are entering multiple times a day, your email server may be filtering those emails into a Spam folder. Due to the number of entries we receive on a daily basis, our system may not be able to send out all of the confirmation emails. Please contact us if you have any questions.
